We're Fredrick's Fortunes
We're a group of friends who have been playing dungeons and dragons for years. Every encounter in this one-shot was built for our own table first. We really hope you enjoy running it as much as we did.
A Halloween masquerade at Vesper Manor goes wrong when the clock strikes twelve, and the long-dead host locks the doors. Your players have one night to find three enchanted objects and break the spell. Run it as a silly Halloween romp, or dim the lights and play it as proper horror.
"Eight authentic masks discovered within the manor itself! Completely safe, probably magical, and almost certainly not cursed."
Lady Viola Vesper, your host
Ready to play. Give it fifteen minutes before the session and you can run the whole night. The players always know what they're hunting for and where to go next, so the table spends its time being werewolves and ghosts, chasing a living banquet and racing a scarecrow for the last candle.
Every guest picks a mask at the door, your players included. At midnight it changes how they look and gives them a monstrous gift. Tap a mask to see what your players could become.
At midnightFur, fangs, pointed ears and clawed hands.
Gift+10 ft walking speed, and advantage on Perception checks that rely on hearing or smell.

About fifteen minutes. Read the adventure summary and the final fight, look over the masks, and it's ready to play. The whole night takes place in one manor, so there's nothing to track between scenes.
3–6 characters at levels 3–5, in one session of three to four hours. There's guidance for smaller or less experienced parties, plus a way to trim it to two rooms if the session is running short. It's written for D&D 5e, 2014 or 2024 rules.
Yes. The book shows you how: make the transformations painful, play Merribold as properly sinister, and treat the transformed guests as a real threat. Or keep it light, with transformations in bursts of colourful magic and defeated guests knocked out cold. Pick whichever suits your table.
