The Blessed Fields of Pure Good, a realm where kindness and harmony flourish without the restrictions of either law or chaos.
Description
Elysium, also known as the Blessed Fields, is an Outer Plane that fully embodies neutral good, pure benevolence uninhibited by rigid law or discordant chaos. Its landscapes are lush and varied, shaped along the sinuous course of the River Oceanus, which links each layer and serves as a gentle arterial pathway through the plane.
In Elysium skies, there are no fixed suns, moons, or stars; instead, light and colour shift based on the presence of divine realms and celestial influences, giving the sky a range of shades from deep indigo to vibrant cerulean.
Inhabitants
Elysium’s inhabitants mirror the plane’s ideals of kindness, compassion, and selfless good. Petitioners, mortal spirits or planar visitors drawn here by virtue or fate, live in peace and often settle near Oceanus’ banks. They are immune to mind control, charm, or forced movement, reflecting Elysium’s nature of free will.
Elysium is also a favoured posthumous destination for the souls of heroes and righteous spirits, which are welcomed into the Isles of the Blessed in Thalasia, a place of eternal rest and reward where spirits co exist beyond obligation or summons.
Adventuring in Elysium
Elysium is not a land of battlefields or harsh trials of strength. Its challenges are subtle, spiritual, and moral. The plane’s boundless serenity and beauty can itself become a trial. Visitors may feel overwhelming contentment and attachment, making departure difficult; some must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw to leave after resting, and repeated failures can make leaving almost impossible without powerful magic.
Most travel occurs along the River Oceanus, which connects layers and links Elysium to Arborea and the Beastlands, offering smooth journeys. The environment seems to respond to the intentions of visitors: crops flourish in the presence of hospitality, paths open to those with clear purpose, and elemental forces assist good deeds. Hostile creatures or actions are rare, but when they arise, guardians, both celestial and natural, act swiftly to shield innocents and restore peace.
