Arcadia is harmony made manifest, a plane where peace is not enforced by law or fear, but sustained through shared purpose and gentle order.
Description
Arcadia is a serene and radiant plane of rolling hills, perfectly tended forests, crystal-clear rivers, and cities built in balance with the land rather than upon it. The landscape feels intentionally shaped, not artificial but guided: trees grow where they are needed, rivers curve to nourish fields and settlements, and roads follow natural lines. The sky glows with soft daylight or calm twilight, never harsh, never fully dark. Time passes evenly, marked by seasons that shift with reassuring regularity. Gravity and space behave predictably, encouraging stability and comfort rather than challenge. Arcadia radiates a quiet sense of rightness, a feeling that things are as they should be, and should remain.
Inhabitants
Arcadia is home to communities rather than empires. Lawful good celestials, archons and enlightened mortals live side by side in cooperative societies built on mutual respect and responsibility. Each inhabitant has a role, but those roles are chosen willingly and performed for the benefit of all. Farmers, artisans, scholars, and guardians work in harmony, supported by beings of celestial origin who guide rather than rule. Conflict exists, but it is rare and resolved through mediation, restitution, or collective decision rather than punishment. Outsiders who arrive in Arcadia often feel their sharp edges softened over time, encouraged (though sometimes uncomfortably) to confront selfish desires and align themselves with the common good of the realm.
Adventuring in Arcadia
Adventuring in Arcadia is less about survival and more about responsibility. Threats tend to be moral, aside from external incursions that disrupt the plane’s balance. Combat is uncommon but decisive, undertaken only when harmony cannot be preserved by other means. Challenges often involve protecting communities, resolving disputes, or preventing corruption from taking root. The plane rewards cooperation, restraint, and selflessness; reckless or cruel actions can have lasting social consequences. For adventurers, Arcadia can feel like a test of character, asking whether they are capable of living in a world where doing the right thing is not just expected, but relentlessly encouraged.
