So You're Visiting The Plane Of: Mount Celestia

A radiant mountain rising from a sea of holiness, where justice, mercy, and order ascend together toward divine perfection.

Description

Mount Celestia, also called the Seven Mounting Heavens or the Radiant Throne, is a plane of radiant order and benevolence structured as a colossal sacred mountain rising from an endless ocean of holy water. Each of its seven layers forms a vast plateau along the mountain’s ascent, representing a higher expression of harmony between law and goodness. Rather than stretching infinitely in all directions, the plane’s geography is vertical and symbolic, with every path upward reflecting moral and spiritual growth.

Travelers typically arrive upon the lowest shores, where gentle waves glow with soft celestial light and polished beaches stretch beneath silver skies. As one ascends, the environments shift into mist-veiled valleys, tranquil forests, golden fields, and gleaming cities of crystal and marble. Higher still, the air grows clearer and brighter, suffused with a sense of peace so profound it can calm anger and doubt. At the summit lies a realm of near-perfect order and divine presence, where mortal flaws are said to fade beneath overwhelming grace.

Inhabitants

Mount Celestia is home to a wide array of celestial beings devoted to justice, protection, and enlightenment. Archons are the most iconic inhabitants, ranging from humble lantern archons that drift like living stars to mighty throne archons who embody divine authority. Angels serve as messengers and guardians, while celestial beasts roam the forests and fields in peaceful harmony.

Petitioners - the souls of the virtuous dead - dwell throughout the layers, often appearing as idealized versions of their mortal selves. They pursue lives of service, contemplation, or guardianship, slowly shedding mortal burdens as they ascend. Pilgrims, paladins, and seekers from other planes are common visitors, undertaking spiritual journeys, quests of atonement, or missions granted by divine powers.

Adventuring in Mount Celestia

Adventures in Mount Celestia tend to focus on moral trials, sacred quests, and conflicts where righteousness must be balanced with compassion. While the plane is not inherently hostile, those who act with malice may find themselves subtly hindered, unable to progress, or confronted by celestial guardians.
